British Homes and Schools for Ukrainians is a non-profit organisation helping Ukrainians to rebuild their lives in the UK through education, employment and training opportunities.

My first project with BHSU was to rebuild their website to help grow their profile and increase fundraising. I planned the complete user journey and wrote fresh copy with a focus on calls-to-action.

Key to this project was the tone of voice. BHSU were keen to ensure the website put the visitor at its heart. They didn’t just want to tell people what BHSU do but create a personal connection and show their audience what they, as an individual or organisation, could do to help.

I continue to work with BHSU on an ongoing basis. I assist the organisation with fundraising by writing grant applications and have launched campaigns generating over £150,000 worth of donated funds and services.

I have also designed BHSU’s social media strategy and content, produced written materials for courses and outreach, and will shortly be launching a monthly newsletter.

You can find BHSU’s website HERE. Please note homepage copy was written by founders and is under review.

  • Carys has not only created copy for our brand new website, quickly and professionally, but she was an indispensable help in the creative process of devising the structure and content of the website from scratch too. Beyond dealing with the immediate task at hand, Carys gets herself involved in all the different creative processes of marketing, be it social media, creating design templates and suggesting other ideas to reach a goal. We are so lucky to have Carys on our team, she is a talented copywriter and also able to accomplish significant chunks of work in a limited time to meet a strict deadline. An excellent team player, Carys is an absolute delight to work with, genuinely interested in the purpose of our organisation, caring for the readers of the content she is creating, and learning tons of new information.
